Product Overview

CPM Management Studio is an integrated HR BI (Business Intelligence) application for managers across the business. At the core of CPM Management Studio is a HR data mart created from your payroll or time and attendance system. The data mart can be used with the integrated reporting and management dashboard within CPM or incorporated into a company wide data warehouse. Salary Review, Performance Management, Surveys and an Employee Portal are all optional modules that can be added to CPM.

CPM has customisable templates for integration with the CHRIS and ADP payroll systems and interfacing is also available to SAP and Payglobal so you can be up and running quickly. If you use a different payroll system, all you require is for your payroll to be using a non-proprietory database (such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle or DB2) or the ability to extract information from your payroll system in comma delimited file format. We can do the rest.

If you have a large business with multiple payroll systems, CPM can combine information from many different payroll systems.
You can even extract your data from a Time and Attendance system such as Kronos.

Staff Demographics and Staff Movementt

With a simple feed of employee data from your payroll or time and attendance system, CPM Management Studio can generate reports and graphs with Staff Demographics, Staff Movements and Attrition for the current month, a rolling 12 month period or year to date.

Dynamic report generation based on simple to use drop-down selection of data and filter criteria. Users can quickly change the report fields, drill down and filter to analyse and identify potential issues.
Built in components calculate starters, leavers, service length, and attrition rate.

Leave Liability Reporting

Add in leave liability and employee leave rate data and CPM Management Studio can report leave liability with on-the-fly banding by number of days leave, salary band or value of leave.

Man Hours Reporting

Add in your pay data, and start analysing your labour, leave and total costs using the multiple different pay code classifications available in CPM Management Studio. You can then model changes to pay codes - for example to show the effect of a 10% decrease in overtime.
	Built in components provide a range of options for defining and calculating FTE values. Total hours and costs by pay codes and multiple different pay code classifcations.

Create a Management Dashboard
Define your own management dashboard with Organisation drilldown and historical trending. Some commonly used measures include:

Building the Workforce Metrics Data Warehouse
Import Studio
A key requirement of any data warehouse is the accuracy and consistency of data within the data warehouse. In bespoke data warehouses this can be both challenging and costly to manage, particularly as source HR systems change over time, or where different HR systems are used by different areas of the business. One of the fundamental design concepts of CPM Management Studio is to provide an efficient and cost effective method of managing these disparate data sources. In creating the Import Studio module we have drawn on experience from working with HR software systems to pre-build a set of flexible ETL (extract, transform, load) components, tailored to the HR environment. These data transformation components can be combined to address many commonly faced requirements, allowing CPM Management Studio to be quickly set up to import data from multiple different payroll systems or from different types of systems such as Time and Attendance. Additional data transformation components can also be quickly developed and linked in to the Import Studio framework to meet specific client requirements.

Import Studio Key Features

Supported Import Formats: Excel, CSV, SQL Query directly from the Payroll Database.

Validation of Data
To ensure the accuracy and completeness of data in the data warehouse, the Import Studio validates data being imported against pre-defined master data such as pay codes, cost centers or, custom validation tables can be created. Failed records can be reviewed and resubmitted.
Augmentation of Data
If not all information is available in a source system the import data can be populated from Default Values, from Data Lookups, or the user can even be prompted at the time of import � e.g. to specify a Pay Run ID for a pay data load.
Translation of Data
Import Studio allows the translation of different values with the same meaning from multiple different source systems to a single consistent value. For example, three different codes �Time & Half�, �T1.5� and �Overtime @ 1.5� are used in the payroll systems and all need to be translated to Time & Half in the data warehouse. Translations can be defined on a system wide basis and overrides specified at import level to minimize data entry and the risk of incorrect data being imported.
Scheduled Uploads
The processing of all imports are centrally managed through the CPM Management Studio Scheduler. The Scheduler tracks the number of records imported and any records that failed validation to allow the user to review and update any errors. Imports can be scheduled to run on a re-occurring basis E.g. the Employee Import can be scheduled to occur daily at 6am to ensure that employee information is up to date.

Metric Studio
The Metric Studio is where the imported data is manipulated to generate the metric information that underlies the reports.

The Metric Studio is provided with a library of pre-configured Metrics, so a client can quickly be up and running on a standard configuration. These Standard Metrics can of course be customised to client requirements and additional metrics can be easily created within the Metric Studio. Metrics can be defined to include data covering Weekly/Fortnightly, Monthly, Annual or Year to Date periods.

The Metric Definition framework, like the Import Studio, is component based to provide maximum flexibility. Standard components are included for calculating FTE values - Metric Studio is provided with three predefined methods for FTE calculations to support varying levels of information available from source payroll systems. As with the Import Studio, the Metric Studio has been designed to allow customer specific components to be quickly configured and linked into the framework.

The Metric Studio allows the definition of Reporting Bands. Reporting bands provide the ability to group data into meaningful ranges for display on reports and graphs, making them easier to interpret. Reporting bands would typically be defined for Age, Service Length, Salary and Number of Days of Leave Entitlement. For example, Age bands could be defined for < 18 Years 18 � 20 Years 20 � 25 Years etc. Additional Reporting Bands can be added as required.

Reports Studio
The Reports Studio is developed in Microsoft Reporting Services - this provides out-of-the-box functionality to export to Microsoft Excel, PDF or Microsoft Word plus the reports can be easily customised to include logos or change the palette to meet your requirements.

A library of over 50 report templates are supplied with CPM Management Studio providing a wide range of Workforce Metric reporting that can be configured to client requirements during installation. If you need specific reports, HRIT can develop these for you, or we can provide assistance for your in-house IT staff to develop them and connect them into CPM Management Studio (this facility is not available with our Express version).

All reports are integrated into the CPM Management Studio security model - so you can be sure that each user is only able to see their own employees.

Technical Requirements

CPM Management Studio is built using Microsoft SQL Server, ASP.NET and Reporting Services technologies.

Versions of CPM Management Studio are available to run on:

Microsoft XP Professional, Window 7 Professional or Ultimate, Server 2003, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 running IIS v5 and up
SQL Server Express 2005 or 2008 / SQL Server 2005, 2008 or 2008 R2
Reporting Services 2005, 2008 or 2008 R2

CPM can be scaled from a single-user instance running on a user's PC to multiple users in large enterprises.
